I remember running a NetSuite marketing campaign years ago for a once famous company with thousands of clients. The results were abysmal and in some cases embarrassing. Many of the client contacts were incorrect and in once case I was informed by the client’s wife that he had expired some time ago and I should update my records.
The company did not know who its customers were and is now bankrupt. Customer/client/partner data is probably the most valuable asset you have and increasingly so. This is the age of data.
When you move to a cloud application you have a rare chance to look at all your client contacts, company information, partner details, etc. closely. Spend time on this and do it correctly. All the bells and whistles in the new application will only work if they have the right data to start with. You can pull data from other applications, social media sources, and contact books into your cloud application.
